male和female，更加着重指性别。male指男生，或者是雄性动物，并不一定是人类。同样的female也可以指女性或雌性动物。

而当指代人的时候，male可以指成年男人也可以指小男孩子，只要是男性都可以用male来统性。female可以指成年女性或小女孩。

而man和woman更着重指“男人”“女人”，多用于指成年男女。而woman又指妇女。
